Message from the CEO
December 2011

As we bring 2011 to a close, my staff and I want to wish each of you a happy Holiday and thank you for your support this past year.

This is a great time to take advantage of the Motorola “trade in“ and/or “rebate” program, as the programs are available only through the end of this month.

In an article by Lauren Prosser at www.Forbes.com, she says that the 2011 tax code regarding capital expenditures may be more advantageous than next year’s.

“In this season of shopping, consider making some purchases for your business. Purchases of most capital equipment, including furniture, computers and most vehicles, may qualify for more generous expensing options than will probably be allowed in the future. For the 2011 tax year, tax code Section 179 allows a deduction of up to $500,000 for qualified purchases (either outright, financed or through a capital lease) of up to $2 million. That means many small and medium sized businesses that make purchases by year end might be able to deduct most, if not all, of their outlays for machinery and equipment.

Without an extension by Congress, the $2 million limit drops to $560,000 next year, and the maximum deduction drops to $139,000. Similarly, the current ability to write off 100% of the purchases in the year bought (rather than an amount prorated for use during the purchase year) may go away next year, too.” – Lauren Prosser, www.Forbes.com

A great combination for many of you: Motorola’s promotion plus a legitimate tax deduction for upgrading your two way radio system. Please contact us to find out more about how Advanced Electronics, Inc. can help to save you money!

Again, we thank you for your trust, dedication and partnership. Have a wonderful holiday!

Bob Conrey

You already understand the value of wireless video in protecting citizens and property. Cameras patrol public places such as parks, stadiums and city malls. Police officers have cameras in their vehicles to record arrest incidents and high-speed chases. And while these solutions have proven their value in reducing crime and multiplying manpower, they lack one critical element that can take public safety to a whole new level: real-time video that goes wherever you go.

Thanks to the latest mobile broadband technology, LTE or Long Term Evolution, which will be deployed by public safety agencies throughout North America, first responders will have access to a mobile high-speed network that is well-suited to transmit high quality video wherever they go.

Every day, wireless devices – some approved, some not – come through the doors of your enterprise in the pockets, briefcases and backpacks of your employees and may simply “appear” on your network. While this fact may not surprise you, the challenges to your enterprise IT policy remain. Whether you like it or not, employees prefer to use their own mobile devices for work-related tasks and are doing so in record numbers.
