A Message from the CEO |

Happy New Year to each of you!
Although this e-newsletter is primarily directed toward public safety products, many of you in the construction, transportation and security businesses may have a need for rugged products such as Motorola laptop computers.
All of us spend countless dollars on computers, especially laptop computers. How many times have you heard of someone dropping their computer or spilling a cup of coffee on it? Accidents will happen, but unfortunately these accidents cost us money. Yes, rugged laptop computers are more expensive, but we have teamed up with Motorola to provide to you the most cost effective rugged laptop computers available. Please ask us for a no cost / no obligation demonstration of these amazing products!
Manufacturers are gradually moving to digital two way radio products! Motorola recently announced their new MotoTurbo product line of new digital radios. Those of you who attended our Customer Appreciation Day in October last year were one of the first to see these new products. We are expecting pricing information by the end of this month with shipments beginning later in the year. Digital products will not be for everyone, as many of you have made substantial investments in your current analog system. I have added some information in this e-newsletter that discusses TDMA, the platform that Motorola has selected to use in developing their new digital product line. If you should have any questions about digital products or TDMA, please talk with one of our sales associates.
Again, Happy New Year to each of you and may 2007 bring much success and happiness to each of you!

Sincerely,
Bob Conrey

Motorola ALPR
| Automatic License Plate Recognition |
The Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology installed in police cars "reads" vehicle plates as they enter the view of a vehicle-mounted or roadside infrared camera, and checks them against a database for nearly instantaneous identification. The system runs continuously, automatically capturing images of license plates with a camera that works in nearly every lighting condition.

TDMA - Time-Division Multiple-Access |
 |
| |
|
|
Time-Division Multiple-Access enables splitting of channels to allow multiple access on a single channel and preserves full channel width but divides it into alternating timeslots that can carry individual calls.
Why Time-Division Multiple-Access (TDMA)?
- One digital repeater replaces two analog repeaters
- Reduces infrastructure, acquisition, setup, and maintenance costs
- Transmits more information
- Supports more users
Features of TDMA
- Two slot 12.5 kHz – increased system capacity
- Permits two simultaneous conversations with a single repeater
- Supports both voice and data
- Fits seamlessly into existing licensed channels
- Standards based solution (ETSI and DMR)

12.5kHz / 25 kHz
- 1 voice for each 12.5/ 25kHz channel
- 1 repeater for each channel

12.5kHz TDMA
- Divides existing channel into two timeslots
- Delivers twice the capacity through repeater
- Performance is same or better than 12.5kHz FDMA
- 1 repeater does work of 2
- Reduced need for combining equipment
- Enables 40% increase in radio battery life
TDMA vs. FDMA Technology
FDMA is not the most effect choice:
- Concerns regarding performance in real world conditions for range and interference
- Users may struggle to cost-effectively translate the spectrum efficiency benefits into increased capacity
- FDMA does not offer improvements in battery talk time
- No supporting standard for FDMA in licensed bands; limits long-term flexibility in user choice of suppliers
- Portable-only solutions
Professional digital two-way radio systems operating on licensed spectrum offer capabilities that other mobile technologies cannot. These advantages make it the clear choice for mobile organizations that require an affordable, flexible, highly reliable solution—along with the power and range available only in licensed bands.
TDMA is Ideal for the Demands of
Transportation • Hometown Security • Construction • Public Services
Hospitality • Higher Education
