Message from the CEO
January 2011

As we begin 2011, I want to thank every customer and all of our vendors, particularly Motorola Solutions, Inc. for your business and partnership. Last year we were able to maintain our status as a top tier Motorola Solutions, Inc. Dealer and Premier Service Partner Service Center.

2011 also marks two key milestones for our business. Advanced Electronics celebrates 60 years of business serving the communities of Southern California, and we celebrate our 50 year anniversary as a Motorola Solutions, Inc. partner.

To commemorate these achievements and to thank all of you for your support, we will be hosting an Anniversary Celebration on April 20th at our main office in Redondo Beach. Representatives from Motorola Solutions, Inc. will join us, and we will have technology displays, vendor booths, raffle prizes, an ice cream truck and lunch provided by the In and Out Burger Truck. I hope to see you all there.

In my next newsletter I will provide a registration link to the event, as I want to be sure to have enough In and Out burgers for everyone!

Thank you again for your ongoing support, trust and partnership. All of us at Advanced Electronics, Inc. truly appreciate each of you!

Meeting the FCC Narrowbanding Deadlines

Are your radio system and subscribers ready for Narrowbanding?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is mandating all public safety and industrial/business licensees convert existing 25 kHz radio systems to minimum narrowband 12.5 kHz efficiency technology by January 1, 2013. The purpose of the narrowband mandate is to promote more efficient use of the VHF and UHF land mobile frequency bands.

Who is affected?
All land mobile Part 90, 25 kHz efficiency systems operating on VHF (150-174 MHz) and UHF (421-512 MHz) frequency bands.

CP110™ MURS Portable
A Powerful Combination of Exceptional
Audio Quality and Excellent Durability.

The CP110™ MURS delivers just what your customers need to drive their business success: pace setting performance and dependability. It starts with exceptional audio quality which enables essential communication in loud environments. 2000mW of audio output and other new design enhancements help CP110™ MURS radios deliver audio that is 30% louder than previous Motorola CP100™ radio models.

What is the MURS frequency band?
The MURS frequency band consist of five VHF shared frequencies designated for private, two-way, short distance voice or data communications for personal or business activities within the United States for which no individual station licenses are required. There is no frequency coordination or license requirement for the use of radio transceivers on MURS frequencies. These channels are available for use on a “shared” basis by the general public.

While there is no licensing requirement for MURS operation, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) does define certain rules and regulations related to the use of radio transmitters on MURS frequencies. These rules are identified within Part 95 under Title 47 of the US Code of Federal Regulations.

Are MURS capable radios the same as those intended for operation on “licensed” frequencies? No. Equipment designated to operate on MURS frequencies may be similar in look and function as those designed for licensed frequency operation, however, FCC regulations require the manufacturer to keep these two technologies separate.

For this reason, Motorola has created unique MURS models such as the CP110m Series radios. This unit is similar to and offer many of the same features as it’s “licensed” equivalent (CP110 Series).
