A Message from the CEO

Innovation and technology that positively affects productivity, customer satisfaction and a desired end result is what makes all of our businesses stronger in the long term.  Just this past week I met with companies that provide CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software that can positively affect our productivity, your satisfaction and our desired long term results.  Purchasing CRM software is just like purchasing two way radios, closed circuit television, card access and broadband wireless products; they all require product education, an acceptable return on investment (ROI), an implementation plan and, of most importance, a positive affect on productivity, customer satisfaction and a desired long term result.

I believe that education is critical to the success of not only my business but to the business or organization of every customer that we touch.  This is the reason that I am extremely proud to host a free customer seminar with lunch to help educate all of our customers on the newest Motorola digital communications platform – MotoTRBO.

We have added MotoTRBO to our own VHF trunking system and being digital; we also added GPS technology as one of the features on our trunking system.  I have talked to several customers who pay one bill for their radio service and a second bill each month for their GPS and wide area network service provider.  This is only one example how MotoTRBO can be cost effective, increase productivity and have a positive affect on customer satisfaction to your customers.

Please take a minute to review the seminar invitation and to register on-line.  I look forward to seeing you on August 5th!

Sincerely,

Bob Conrey

White Paper: Choosing A Vehicle Computing Platform

Fixed–mount workstations may be a better solution

Mobile data communications are becoming increasingly important in empowering police officers, fire fighters and other first responders to perform their vital work more efficiently, productively and safely. For the past few years, the assumed solution for in–vehicle mobile computing and communications has been a removable, ruggedized laptop computer. Even as first responders continue to work with their laptops, however, municipalities and other government agencies are carefully examining the advantages of augmenting, or even replacing, laptops with advanced fixed–mount workstations, often in combination with ruggedized mobile handheld computers

The Fixed–Mount Alternative

Permanently mounted into public safety vehicles, usually in the passenger compartment or trunk, these computers are designed to outperform laptops in important functionalities. They usually have more expansion options and can operate in hotter and colder environments. They offer a greater array of connectivity options. And with removable keyboards and enhanced screen design, they’re easier to use. But what about portability?

Although fixed–mount computers cannot be un–docked and carried around like laptops, many departments are beginning to look at portability a little differently. Many are looking at it as a system rather than as a “one computer does all” solution. Given some of the limitations of laptops, many municipalities and agencies are considering deploying a system that features a fixed–mount workstation that outperforms laptops in power and functionality, combined with today’s powerful handheld devices and computers that can outperform laptops in functionality, portability and ease of use.

Laptops or Fixed–Mount Workstations?

When public safety and other government agencies or departments compare laptops with fixed–mount workstations, they consider a number of specific features that are important to first responders and other computer users who work in field.

MOTOTRBO™ Helps Sears DDC
Keep Deliveries Moving

As part of its continuing goal to provide next day delivery on large home and garden items, Sears opened its Jacksonville, Florida direct distribution center in May of 2008. With seven day shipping, consistent, reliable communications was critical in order to coordinate the large volume of products that went through receiving and shipping on a daily basis. MOTOTRBO digital radios are used to enable the entire warehouse to talk radio to radio without a repeater; the crisp audio enables conversation even in the noisy environment; and the long lasting batteries last through multiple shifts for increased productivity.

“We lost power early on (during Hurricane Fay). The nice thing about the radios was that after our cell phone batteries began dying, we were still able to keep communicating with the MOTOTRBOs due to their long-lasting batteries.” – Mark Harbert, Sears DDC Facilities Manager

With longer talk time, clearer audio delivery, and the ruggedness that meets military standards for durability and reliability, MOTOTRBO radios offer a private, cost–effective solution that can be tailored to meet unique coverage and feature needs.
