A Message from the CEO

Don’t be deceived! A couple of weeks ago I sent an email advising you of the benefits of using genuine Motorola batteries, rather than purchasing (in some cases) lower cost 3rd party batteries that can be the cause of operational problems with your portable two-way radios.

In the same way you can be deceived by lower cost two-way battery offers, you can also be deceived by low cost and unqualified service providers!

Each of you has a huge investment in your two-way radio network! That network can become potentially unusable if unqualified service companies provide service using unqualified technicians, uncalibrated service monitors or replacement parts that are not new and from the original equipment manufacturer.

Advanced Electronics, Inc. has always maintained the highest Motorola authorized level of service available! In this newsletter, there is a link to the Motorola National Service Partner Handbook, which I recommend everyone take a look at. Motorola, Inc. has three levels of authorized service centers nationally:

1.

Motorola Premier Service Partner (PSP)
ADVANCED ELECTRONICS, INC.

The Motorola Premier Service Partner (PSP) is the highest level of service relationship with Motorola. It represents the greatest level of Motorola Service Partner agreement and interdependence. Motorola Service Partners like Advanced Electronics, Inc., who attain this level have demonstrated consistent capabilities in performance, personnel, commitment to Motorola products, services and have the financial strength to back up there service commitment!

Requirements of the Motorola Premier Service Partner:

  • Meet the requirements of the Motorola Service Partner (MSP)
  • Achieve and maintain Certified Service Center (CSC) accreditation
  • Achieve and maintain quality goals and continuous quality improvement programs
(customer satisfaction / contract compliance / case resolution)
2.

Motorola Service Partner (MSP)

The Motorola Service Partner (MSP) recognizes an established service business providing support to the Motorola product portfolio that can not meet the criteria of a PSP.

3.

Motorola Warranty Repair Center (WRC)

The Motorola Warranty Repair Center (WRC) recognizes the ability of certain Motorola Two-Way Dealers to provide warranty support for the dealer products available in the Dealer Price Book.  Warranty Repair Centers primarily collect the broken radio from the customer, sends it in to Motorola for repair, and delivers the repaired radio back to the customer.

If your two-way radio service budget is strained, before you accept any offer from an unqualified service provider, call us at 310-725-0410!  We can provide tailor made service solutions that will meet your desired level of service, while staying within your budget!

Don’t be deceived!  You can depend on Advanced Electronics, Inc., to serve your communications needs.  We have been in business for 58 years and we will be here in the future to serve you!

Sincerely,

Bob Conrey

White Paper: The True Cost of Cheap Computers

Why Government Organizations Need Ruggedized Hardware

To realize the phenomenal benefits of mobile computing, equipment needs to be well-designed, user-friendly, and reliable—terms that, in the field of public safety and government services have definitions very different from their equivalents in consumer and office markets. Just as the family minivan isn’t suitable for patrol duty, consumer- and office-grade mobile computers are a poor fit for situations faced by government workers in the field.

The temptation to purchase consumer-grade hardware for mission-critical applications is always there, particularly in lean times. After all, the purchase price is significantly lower, the hardware lighter and prettier, the brands familiar—and isn’t one laptop the same as another? But in the unforgiving environments and urgent work faced by public safety and government personnel, “cheap” consumer hardware turns out to be very costly.

A 2007 VDC Research Group study quantified the total cost of owning and supporting a mobile computing device for five years. In government applications, the cost differences were stark: a fully rugged notebook computer costs $15,700 to purchase, support, and operate—while a “cheap” consumer laptop costs over $27,100 over the same time frame. Similarly, a “cheap” consumer handheld PDA costs nearly $25,300 over five years—over $10,000 more than a fully rugged PDA.
