A Message from the CEO |

Thank you to every one who responded so positively to the 9-1-1 poem that our grandson wrote. Dee and I appreciate your comments and Jacob is even more excited about continuing his writing!
It does not seem possible that yet another year is close to passing us by!
Time does pass us by and because of this I want to talk to each of you this month about the FCC rebanding time-line for frequencies operating between:
- 150 and 174 MHz.
- 421 and 512 MHz.
Many of you have FCC assigned frequencies in the above mentioned bands that are licensed on 25 kHz channels and being used by 25 kHz radios. In December of 2004, the FCC established a migration schedule to move all radio users in the above mentioned frequency ranges from 25 kHz to12.5 kHz channels.
In basic language because of technological advances in the industry, the FCC is creating more spectrum efficiency by moving channels from 25 kHz to 12.5 kHz channels. Look at it this way; the FCC is taking the same 2 lane freeway and changing it to a 4 lane freeway, not by adding more ground, but by making the cars and/or lanes smaller.
What should you do NOW?
Call Renee Baker: 310-725-0410 Ext. 235
Renee can review your FCC license with you to determine if it is an authorization for you to operate on 25 kHz or 12.5 kHz channels.
Review your equipment inventory with Renee to determine if your two way equipment is capable of operating in both 25 kHz and 12.5 kHz.
Once you have the answers to these two important questions, you will know if you need to budget for:
- New radio equipment or,
- Reprogramming of your existing equipment
Some dates that you need to be aware of:
- January 2011:
The FCC will not grant new voice applications or make changes in contours of existing stations that are licensed for 25 kHz channels.
The FCC will prohibit the manufacture or importing of new equipment that operates on 25 kHz channels.
- January 1, 2013:
ALL existing FCC licenses must operate on 12.5 kHz channels or less! Failure to meet this obligation will result in cancellation of your license!
If you are using wide-band (25 kHz) channels after January 1, 2013 you are subject to:
a. Loss of Radio Communications
b. Substantial fines from the FCC
c. Loosing your FCC 25 kHz license
I bring this to your attention for thee reasons; (1) uncongested FCC frequencies are difficult at best to obtain in the Los Angeles area; (2) some companies and/or sales representatives may unknowingly try to sell you new radios that will not work on 12.5 kHz channels although the price may look good you should consider purchasing radios that will operate on 12.5 kHz channels and; (3) time does fly by and in today’s economy everyone must plan ahead in their budgeting process. We do not want any of our customers to be surprised on January 1, 2013 when it will be too late!
Please look for us at the COPS West Show on October 20 and 21 at the Ontario Convention Center! |

Thank you again for your patronage, as we truly value the business relationship that we have with each and every one of you!
Sincerely,
Bob Conrey |
